Prime Minister Mr. Milo Djukanovic held talks with Serbian President Mr. Boris Tadic in Milocer, near Sveti Stefan

Upon invitation of the Presidents who will participate tomorrow to the VIIth Summit of the Heads of State of South-East Europe (SEE) in the old Royal Capital of Cetinje [1], today’s evening, this Wednesday June 3rd, 2009, the Prime Minister of Montenegro, H.E. Mr. Milo Đukanović, attended in Miločer — the former summer place of residence of Yugoslavia’s leader Josip Broz Tito (º1892, †1980), close to Sveti Stefan — a reception hosted by the President of Montenegro, H.E. Mr. Filip Vujanović, at which were present the Heads of State of Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia-Herzegovina (Chairman of the Presidency), Croatia, FYR Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia [2] — respectively T.Exc. Messrs. Bamir Topi, Georgi S. Parvanov, Nebojša Radmanović, Stjepan Mesić, Đorđe Ivanov, Boris Tadić and Danilo Türk, high-level representatives of Turkey and Romania — respectively T.Exc. Messrs. Mehmet Aydin, Minister of State of Turkey, and Theodor Paleologu, Romanian Minister of Culture, Religious Denominations and National Cultural Heritage, the Director-General of UNESCO, Mr. Koïchiro Matsuura, and the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe (CoE), the Rt. Hon. Terry Davis.

After his afternoon’s meeting at the State Residence “Villa Gorica” in Podgorica with Secretary-General Davis, this festive event was the occasion for Prime Minister Đukanović to hold informal talks, in a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere, with all the foreign leaders attending Cetinje’s SEE Summit 2009. With Serbian President Tadić in particular, the Montenegrin Head of Government discussed various issues of further improving co-operation between Montenegro and Serbia, as well as political and trade relations in the region, especially in the context of European integration of Western Balkan countries.

[1] The Summit, entitled this year “Management of Heritage Diversity and its Promotion for Tourism”, aims to highlight the importance of management of heritage diversity, through reaffirmation of its role in current trends, as a new way of its socio-economic emancipation.

[2] The Hellenic Republic — organiser of the SEE Summit 2008 in Athens under the ægis of UNESCO, in co-operation with the Council of Europe (CoE) — will not participate to the Cetinje’s SEE Summit 2009. This year, the Summit is organised by Montenegro “under the auspices of the Presidency, in co-operation with UNESCO and the CoE”.
