Resignation letter of Prime Minister Sturanovic to the Parliament of Montenegro

Third update

Following is the text of Prime Minister Šturanović’s resignation letter to be submitted in the course of this afternoon to the President of the Parliament of Montenegro (Skupština), M. Ranko Krivokapić, Podgorica, Montenegro, January 31:

N° 01/898.
Podgorica, January 31, 2008.

PARLIAMENT OF MONTENEGRO,
M. RANKO KRIVOKAPIĆ, PRESIDENT.

YOUR EXCELLENCY,

By the present, I would like to inform you upon my decision to resign from the post of Prime Minister of the Government of Montenegro, due to my health grounds. M. Željko Šturanović, Prime Minister of Montenegro

The medical therapy, which will be given to me in the coming months, anticipates that I will have to considerably reduce my working engagements, upto the point that, in my deepest regret, it will no longer be sufficient to assume this highly important and accountable position.

By another way, Montenegro, being in a turning point of its development, requires an absolute working commitment from us all, especially from all those covering the most responsible offices, in order to lead the country towards more progress on the road to Europre and democracy.

Keeping in mind the above mentioned considerations, I took this decision, in order to maintain the necessary preconditions for the Government of Montenegro to continue, in full capacity, to fulfil the working calendar established for the forthcoming period. As for me, in the months to come, I wish to fully devote myself to the improvement in my health.

DEAR PRESIDENT,

I also would like to take the opportunity of this letter to extend my deepest appreciation to you and all the Members of the Parliament for the excellent co-operation we have had.

Yours faithfully,
Željko Šturanović.
