Prime Minister Djukanovic meets with EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn

After the Council of the European Union (EU) concluded last Friday [1] Montenegro achieves progress on its way to the EU, today, this Monday June 23, 2008, the Prime Minister of Montenegro, H.E. Mr. Milo Đukanović, attended in Brussels, Belgium a working lunch on the invitation of Mr. Olli Rehn, European Commissioner for Enlargement.

After his meeting with Commissioner Olli Rehn, Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Đukanović said his country would drive forward the required reform that would enable the country to submit an application for EU membership by the end of the year, during the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

During his working visit to Brussels, the Prime Minister of Montenegro was accompanied by H.E. Mr. Milan Roćen, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Montenegro.

[1] Brussels European Council on June 19-20, 2008: “The European Council takes note of the progress Montenegro has made and encourages the country to further focus on building administrative capacity, pursuing the fight against corruption and organised crime, consolidating the institutions as well as reforms of the judiciary in accordance with the Constitution.”
