As proof of payment, drivers are issued an eco-sticker to be placed on the inner side of the windshield glass in the upper right corner, that will allow them to enter Montenegro as many times as they like, in a one year period as from the delivery date, without having to remit the fee again. This eco-sticker can be bought at Montenegro’s border posts.
This Eco-Tax has been introduced by the Government of Montenegro based on the obligations arising from the implementation of multilateral agreements in the field of environmental protection, reforms in the context of the European Union accession process, as well as on the grounds of recommendations made by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), with the ultimate goal to allocate the gathered funds for the implementation of operative measures of preservation and improvement of natural potentials of the Ecological State of Montenegro.
