On the occasion of the second anniversary of the National Independence, Madam Ambassador of Montenegro in France, H.E. Prof. Dr. Milica Pejanović-Đurišić, and the Agency for International Scientific, Educational, Cultural and Technical Co-operation (ZAMTES) [1], headed by M. Derviš Selhanović, will organise on Friday May 23, 2008 8:00pm at the Theater of the Fondation de l’Alliance Française, 101 boulevard Raspail in Paris (6th), France, an evening homage to the filmographic work of the best-known Montenegrin filmmaker and true master of the short documentary, M. Momir Matović.

Momir Matović : “(Po)rađanje jedne nacije” (Delivery of a nation, 1997)

Born in 1951 in Podgorica, Montenegro, Momir Matović graduated with a degree in cinematography from the Faculty of Drama Arts, University of Arts in Belgrade. Momir Matović He debuted as director in 1987 with “Obala života” (The bank of life); since, his documentary and fiction short-films have made the tour of international festivals around the world, from Canada and the USA, while passing by Europe, up to Australia and New Zealand. He is notably well-known for “Kao i sjutra” (Same as tomorrow, 1988), “Crvena linija kuće Ujkić” (Red line home Ujkić, 1989), “Posljednja bioskopska predstava” (The last cinema show, 1991), “Noć duga 68 godina” (A 68-year long night, 1992) [2], “Ja znam kako” (I know how, 1993), “Metri života” (Meters of life, 1994) [3], “Žica života” (String of life, 1995) [4], , “(Po)rađanje jedne nacije” (Delivery of a nation, 1997) et “Prva i posljednji” (The first and the last, 1999).

Momir Matović’s cinematographic universe is based on an obsessive love for film, and a deep respect for life in its rudimentary and almost biblical expression.
