Today, this Friday December 15, 2006 in the afternoon, took place at the Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome, Italy an official ceremony during which H.E. Mr. Darko Uskoković, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Montenegro to Italy, presented his letters of credence to the President of the Italian Republic, H.E. Mr. Giorgio Napolitano.

During the handing-over ceremony of the letters of credence of H.E. Mr. Darko Uskoković, Italian President Napolitano was accompanied by the Honorable Patrizia Sentinelli, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs in charge of international co-operation.

H.E. Ambassador Uskoković was born in April 1961 in Nikšić, Montenegro.
In 1986, he graduated at the University “Veljko Vlahović”, Faculty of Economy in Podgorica. A year later, he started a business career with IBM in Scotland, UK and worked in the cost control and planning department.
During the period 1988-1989, he was appointed as Commercial Officer in the company “Montenegroexpress” in Budva, and then served as Chief and Commercial Director in the branch office of the company “Montextours” in Podgorica.
Between 1993 and 1995, he worked with the Agency for Housing the Refugees as part of the UNHCR programme in Podgorica. He was then appointed as Manager in the Montenegrin Agency for Economic Restructuring and Foreign Investments in Podgorica up to 1998. In this year, he joined the Government of Montenegro and performed the duty of Prime Ministers’ Chief of Cabinet until July 2001 when he was then appointed as Minister of Economy by the decision of the Parliament of the Republic of Montenegro. He was reappointed as Minister of Economy in January 2003, until June 2005.
He had other high ranking positions such as Ambassador of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro in Rome, Italy from September 2005 to June 2006, and Ambassador of Montenegro in Rome as from December 2006.
H.E. Ambassador Uskoković is married and has two children.
