The Goverment of Montenegro nominates new ambassadors to the United Nations, the European Union and FRY Macedonia
Today, this Thursday January 28, 2010, the Montenegrin Cabinet, met under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, H.E. Mr. Milo Đukanović, adopted the decision, pursuant to Article 100 of the Constitution (Official Gazette of Montenegro, n° 01/07), to nominate new ambassadors to the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU) and FYR Macedonia, in replacement of those who are retired by rotation.
Mr. Aleksandar Andrija Pejović, current Director of the EU Directorate at the Montenegrin Ministry for Foreign Affairs, is nominated Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Head of Mission of Montenegro to the European Communities in Brussels, Belgium, replacing incumbent Mrs. Slavica Milačić whose three-year term expired in November 2009. Mr. Pejović has been a Counsellor in the Multilateral Department, where he was Head of the UN Unit and of the Regional Initiatives Unit. He also worked in the Bilateral Department (Western Europe), and in Montenegro’s Mission to Slovenia. He joined the Ministry in 2000. Aleksandar Pejović has a MA in Political Science and Public Administration from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Mr. Milorad Šćepanović, current Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs in charge of multilateral relations, non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland, is nominated Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of Montenegro to the United Nations in New York City, N.Y., USA, replacing incumbent Mr. Nebojša Kaluđerović, GCDO, whose three-year term expired in August 2009.
Mr. Dušan Mrdović, current Member of the Senate in the State Audit Institution (DRI) of Montenegro, is nominated Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to FYR Macedonia in Skopje, replacing incumbent Mr. Duško Laličević whose three-year term expired in December 2009. Mr. Mrdović has been General-Consul of Serbia-and-Montenegro (SCG) in Rijeka, Croatia, from 2004 until Montenegro proclaimed its independence in June 2006, and previously Secretary-General of the Montenegrin Parliament.

These nominations took place, upon proposal of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, as part of the regular rotation of Montenegrin diplomats in foreign posts planned for the first trimester of this year. Under reservation of approval and final appointment of the three proposed ambassadors by the State President of Montenegro, H.E. Filip Vujanović (Art. 95 of the Constitution on the Presidential prerogatives), Messrs. Pejović, Šćepanović and Mrdović should take their respective office before next March 1st.
